Cashing in, cha-ching cha-ching

These poorly chosen words from blog management, which only I see, have been prominent on my page recently:

Start earning money now
Accept payments for just about anything and turn your website into a reliable source of income with payments and ads.

Yeah? There’s a word (or two) for people who “accept payments for just about anything.”๐Ÿ˜•

Further, I realize this is a boiler plate message that is being slapped on lots of blogs if not all by WordPress, but wouldn’t it make more sense if it was pitched only at highly trafficked blogs? Oh, I see… All a blogger such as myself would need to do to get that “reliable income” would be to request $500 from every visitor.๐Ÿ˜›

I do think it’s WordPress generated; it’s similar to their attempts to get me to buy their offerings. It doesn’t present like an ad, more like a “helpful suggestion.”

I haven’t seen it either — but then I don’t look at my own blog except to publish. That would be better than those horrible toenail fungus ads or Dr. Pimple Popper. Gaah!

I feel like I’ve had an increase in emails from WordPress since the pandemic started. They’re always ads about increasing blog traffic and upgrading my blog. I just delete them without reading. I wonder what’s going on…

Yes! I don’t subscribe to their emails but on the site itself they seem very determined in recent months. Make money! Drive traffic to your blog! This week it’s Link to your social media! Why are they bothering with us little people?? Do we seem like we aspire to be Hardcore Bloggers?
