Overheard in the grocery store

Customer: Should you be putting the cherries that were on the floor back on the shelf?

Employee: Yeah. They’re going to get washed anyway.

Suddenly I was glad I don’t like cherries. And thinking that buying a bottle of “vegetable wash” might not be quite the needless and frivolous purchase I’d always presumed it was…

I saw a customer drop a bagel on the floor, pick it up and put it back in the bin. I was aghast! Then I saw an employee come over and remove it. Restored my faith. I’m not a big believer in the select your own stuff because I fear customers more than employees although I’ve seen some teenage workers play dodgeball with bananas.

Oh I’m generally with you about fear other customers. If I saw that dirty bagel go back in and an employee didn’t, I’d go get it (like I imagine you would). Trouble is it polluted the fresh bagels too! I see customers snacking, letting their kids play with food, and other unpleasantries in local stores. I’m always waiting for an employee to SAY something but they never do.
