Short Thought 165 (packaging)

I shop on Amazon. Based on the poor condition and packing of many shipments, I often wonder who is doing the job. I thought maybe I got the “low rent” packing because I didn’t have Prime membership. But I had Prime membership for awhile and the shipments arrived no better. I was pleased to get a nicely packed box yesterday, nothing mangled or spilled, everything neatly arrnaged. In the Package Feedback section online I thanked Amazon for a box that didn’t looked like it had been “packed by angry squirrels.”

Haven’t bought much from Amazon to notice any difference in packaging, but I have bought a few things from Ebay and I have been quite impressed with the quality of the packaging – but then this is by individuals not a corporate undertaking.

Yes, individual sellers have more incentive to make a good impression. I can’t imagine Amazon warehouse jobs are all that glamorous. It appears workers take out their frustrations where they can.

I have ordered many things from Amazon and never once had a problem with the condition of the package. We had things delivered in both NY and NC. Could it be your carrier? Just a thought.

We’ve never had an issue with Amazon (but have always had Prime), but the thing that kills me with them is the waste. They’ll use a huge box to pack something pretty small, or not pack things together in the same order and send half a dozen boxes.

I know! They make ME feel guilty over their shipping practices! When I see some of their packing, I’d like to march to the warehouse (wherever in god’s name it is) and show them youngins how to pack a proper box and not waste. I recycle all the boxes but still.
