If you meet someone who has an addiction, chances are, as is true when you see a lone ant in your house or a single door-to-door religion peddler on the street, it isn’t the only one.

    Boom. So true. I dated an alcoholic once and I was amazed how many other addictions she would develop. It was really so sad to see her all happy on the outside, but to know there were so many demons on the inside.

      Tim, I almost wonder if the happy act is a sort of camouflage, a smoke-and-mirrors routine that some addictive personalities do to keep others from looking at them too closely: “Nope! No problems here! Look at my funny hand puppets! Listen to my funny stories!” It is heart-breaking to care for someone like this.
