Because squirrels (sometimes) amuse me

I set up my seasonal screen tent last week. The mosquitoes have landed. So to speak. We have the misfortune of having the aggressive Asian Tiger mosquito, a mosquito distinguished by a white line on its back, which is active during the day and bites repeatedly. Wicked little bastards. I adore sitting outside. And the tent makes that possible.

I took photos of my bird bath and squirrel drinking station last year. I wasn’t going to repeat myself except that today in a fairly short span, I had 4 squirrels visit and captured a few interesting shots. At least I think it was 4 different squirrels – I admit that unless one has a differentiating feature, I don’t necessarily know them apart.

This one had to get way up on his elbows/haunches because the water was a bit low.

This squirrel seemed to be enjoying a drink...

Oh yes, I am well aware of how much squirrels fight with each other, no matter how much largesse is at hand. I enjoy them but also find them spiteful toward people if they aren’t pleased about something like a limit to how much sunflower seed they can access. They routinely pooped on my squirrel-proof feeder.

        LOL!

The worst my squirrels will usually do is bang the corncob feeder against the tree like an upset pet when I leave it empty (I only feed about twice a week, so they get plenty of temper tantrum practice). They haven’t pooped on anything of mine……. yet. And heaven help them when if they do, since poop is my number one reason I despise the birds.

Oh, your squirrels are civil. Mine can be so petulant. Doesn’t seem to matter that they have a pretty good life here. Would a little gratitude kill them?!

Oh, it’s not ME getting close enough, Tim! Those suckers love me and the white line isn’t hard to see. They just act different too. Super fast. I gather you don’t have these miserable insects?

You’re awesome to link to me at all! I surely appreciate it. If the link doesn’t work, it may be that it was a link to a comment instead of to the post itself, if that makes sense. That’s happened to me before.

Squirrels are definitely among the finalists for the “Cutest Creatures on the Planet” award. They don’t have the benefit of your screen tent, though. I wonder if they ever get bitten by mosquitoes, and if so, do they scratch?
