I’m a teenager watching the annual local beauty pageant with friends, a girl and two guys. The outdoor event is a big deal in my suburban town and draws a crowd. It’s a small community and we’re of the same general age as the contestants, so we pretty much know all of them.
One of the guys remarks, “If [such-and-so] doesn’t win, she’ll cry for a week.” Without the slightest beat, the other guy responds, “And if she does win, everybody else will cry for a week.”
Slays me every time.
